*Update: the courses below are already full and underway, but I will be teaching sessions again in the future, so please stay tuned and contact me if you would like to be kept in the loop. Please also consider joining this Facebook group to participate in the English-language literary community in Mexico!
LITERARY ENGLISH — For intermediate and advanced English language learners.
Develop your English language skills through reading, speaking, and writing while learning about classic and contemporary literature and exploring your own creativity. We will read and discuss short stories and essays by North American and British authors and write short creative pieces inspired by the texts. We will occasionally use supplementary grammar lessons, though the focus will be on learning through practice. You will receive individualized attention on your oral and written grammar as well as the opportunity to practice in a group.
Details: 8 weeks from February 15th-April 5th 2014, Saturdays 11:00-12:30 at Under the Volcano Books, Celaya 25, La Condesa. MXN $1600. To register or find out more, please contact me and let me know a bit about your English level and why you are interested in the course!
CREATIVE WRITING — For native and fluent English speakers.
Explore multi-genre creative writing techniques including fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and travel writing. Learn to read and discuss works of literature with an eye for craft and push the boundaries of your creativity through a range of exercises and assignments. We will also discuss revision tips and how to publish your work. This course will be tailored to the interests of the participants and you will receive individualized feedback on your writing.
